What is an Animal Wrap? An innovation in the humane handling of small animals, the high level protection of an Animal Wrap replaces the use of an ‘old’ towel (or similar) commonly used to ensure that paws, claws, beaks and teeth are kept safely away from the handler during essential animal examinations or treatment. The effects of light pressure on the body have been studied in animals with positive results showing a reduction in anxiety and the promotion of relaxation*. Using the Animal Wrap as a swaddle is humane and safe.
What is Pro-Tex? Protective fabrics have come a long way since MDC started making gloves and gauntlets for animal handlers in the 1980’s. Pro-Tex is a new, unique ultra-high performance soft fabric offering outstanding levels* of laceration, cut, tear, puncture, abrasion resistance whilst maintaining dexterity. Originally designed within protective clothing for the police and prison security, MDC have developed it specifically for animal handling professionals and pet owners in the form or our Animal Wraps.
Not just for cats! In an ideal world, animals would understand that we must carry out certain procedures to them in order to care for them responsibly. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case and there will always be times when some form of restraint is needed in order to provide necessary examinations or treatments to our pets or patients. For many years, people have used towels or blankets to keep animals still and to keep claws, paws and teeth under control, but they are designed for completely different purposes and offer little or no protection.
Our Animal Wraps have been made specifically for gentle restraint with soft and comfy fleece on one side and high-tech protective Pro-Tex on the other. The fleece provides warmth and comfort whilst the Pro-Tex provides extremely strong protection from paws, claws, nails, and beaks. For added benefit, our Wraps have been specially designed in shape, size, and colour to best meet the needs of individual species including birds, reptiles, and rabbits.
